About Sky Cable USA
Sky Cable USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sky Cable, Inc. located in Elkton, VA. Sky Cable, Inc. was founded in 1992 by Bob Saylor. The original purpose of the company was selling and installing C-band dishes to consumers in rural locations. When high powered Ku-band satellites became operational in late 1994, the company began representing DIRECTV® in residential markets as a TVRO dealer.
By 1996 the focus of the company's efforts had turned from the residential market to the commercial market. In January 1998, the company was certified by DIRECTV to undertake the design and build of private cable systems for the MDU (Multiple Dwelling Unit) market.
In 1999 the company began designing and installing private cable systems with the capability of delivering high speed internet connections to the end user. We have installed about 75 private cable systems since 1996. At this time, cable TV systems designed and built by Sky Cable, Inc. and FiberOptic USA deliver video programming services to more than 20,000 viewers.
Recently the company has developed the capability of delivering VOIP (Voice over IP) telephone services in addition to cable TV and high speed internet services, enabling our clients to benefit from three significant revenue streams (voice, data, and video). At this time the company efforts are expended primarily in the design and installation of fiber optic telecommunications systems for the commercial markets: apartment complexes, manufactured home communities, gated communities, resorts, hotels/motels, student housing and other multiple dwelling unit properties. Since 2005 we have focused our design/build architecture exclusively on point-to-point Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) telecommunications systems in these private communities.
We have substantial depth of experience based upon successful longevity and successful developments. In this light any association with Sky Cable will lend creditability to your efforts. We will always be pleased to arrange for developers and system operators to tour one or more of our deployments and meet some of the developers we have worked with.
Presently we are working with at least 23 developments throughout the U.S. as a retained consultant whereby approximately 20,000 residents will benefit from our services and DIRECTV® content. Prior to this year we have designed and built systems that deliver DIRECTV® to more than 25,000 subscribers.
Our sister company, Virginia Cable, Inc. is the System Operator delivering telephone, cable TV, and high-speed Internet services via fiber optic networks to multiple dwelling units in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
